Quick email program
instructions.
(works
for most programs)
If you are starting
with a new computer or
using a mail program for
the first time you will
most likely be prompted
to add an account when
you start the program.
To add an account go to
the tools column in the
menu and go to accounts
(email accounts). Your
setting up an internet
POP3 account, so you
need to select that
option. Some programs
will try to configure
your account
automatically but you
should set up your
account manually. Once
your on the account
settings page you'll
want to fill in the
blanks with the proper
information. Check above
if you unsure about the
proper answer. You will
have to select more
settings to configure
the account correctly.
The outgoing server
requires authentication
and it is the same user
and password as the
incoming server.
Advanced settings will
have the settings for
the server ports. With
some internet providers
they will block ports so
you will want to change
the outgoing server port
to 587. You can also
change the settings to
leave a copy of your
emails on the server. If
you have computer
problems or need to
check your email online
it will save a copy off
of your computer for
backup. After your
account is set you can
test the settings to
verify that everything
is correct. If you have
